קהילה - Community

קהילת שוהם נהנית מאורח חיים קהילתי, הבא לידי ביטוי במתן מענה לכל חברי הקהילה המקומית: אירועים, פעילויות ותכניות עשירות לכל גיל ובכל תחום. לצד מרכז א.ת.ג.ר לגיל הרך, מתחם הנוער, מרכז מטרו לצעירים ויזמים, פועל בשוהם גם בית הגמלאי ומועדון גמלאי שוהם, בו מוצעים לגמלאי היישוב חוגים, קורסים וטיולים. 

בשוהם חיה בהרמוניה מיוחדת במינה קהילה חילונית ודתית. בהנהגתם של ראש המועצה, איתן פטיגרו, ורב היישוב, דוד סתיו, מתקיים ביישוב שיח מכבד ואווירה מכילה. לצד הפעילות הדתית של הקהילה הדתית כולה בשוהם ושל הקהילות הדתיות הספציפיות הפועלות במסגרת 16 בתי כנסת ברחבי הישוב, יש בשוהם גם  פעילות עניפה של תרבות בצוותא במועדי ישראל ולאורך השנה כולה. מערכת החינוך היישובית היא פלורליסטית. לצד מגוון הזרמים החינוכיים, קיימת גם פעילות יישובית משותפת – הן בקרב מוסדות החינוך והן בתנועות הנוער. 

בשוהם 16 בתי כנסת פעילים מאוד, הפרוסים בכל רחבי היישוב, וכן צומחת קהילה רפורמית. 

התנדבות ומחויבות
שוהם מתאפיינת בציבור תושבים אכפתי, מעורב ומשקיע, הפעיל במסגרת מפעלי ההתנדבות השונים ומעורב בחיי הקהילה: כוחות הביטחון וההצלה, חינוך, רווחה ועוד. מעורבות התושבים באה לידי ביטוי בתהליכי קבלת ההחלטות ביישוב, בחברות בוועדות הציבוריות, מפגשי תושבים ועוד. 
 

The Shoham community enjoys a community lifestyle, which is expressed by providing solutions for all members of the local community: Events, activities and rich programs for all ages and within all domains. Along with the early education Etgar Center, the youth complex, the Metro Center for youth and entrepreneurs, the Senior Citizens Home and Shoham Senior Citizens Club operate in Shoham, offering the town’s senior citizens classes, courses and trips. 

A secular and religious community lives in Shoham in special harmony. Led by the Head of Council, Eitan Pettigro, and the Town Rabbi, David Stav, a respectful dialog and accommodating atmosphere take place in town. Alongside the religious activities of Shoham’s entire religious congregation, and the specific religious congregations included in 16 synagogues throughout town, there are also extensive joint cultural activities on Jewish holidays and throughout the year. The town’s education system is pluralistic. Alongside the various educational segments, there are also joint town activities - both among the education institutions as well as youth movements. 

There are 16 highly active Synagogues, deployed throughout town, as a Reform congregation is growing as well. 

Volunteering and civic involvement
Shoham’s residents care deeply about their community and society, manifested by an unusually high level of voluntarism in a wide range of areas such as security and rescue services, education, social welfare, and more. Strong civic engagement is also manifested through the involvement of the public in decision-making bodies such as public companies, municipal committees, parent-teacher associations, and more. The Shoham Council strongly encourages and supports these activities.
